About Victoria Montesinos
Victoria Montesinos, the only daughter of renowned Mexican film director Fernando A. Rivero and Maty Humana, discovered her passion for art at an early age. Raised by her strict grandparents, she often felt isolated and found comfort in drawing, particularly faces inspired by her father’s world of cinema. Recognizing her talent, her father encouraged her to pursue painting. At age twelve, she began studying under renowned Spanish painter José Bardasano, with whom she trained for five years.
Determined to follow her artistic vision, Victoria chose to pursue painting with independence and integrity, refusing to conform to market trends or artistic expectations. In late 1983, she moved to New York, where she developed her skills in lithography and quickly gained recognition. Her limited-edition prints sold out, and she sold approximately 300 original paintings before returning to Mexico during the economic recession of the late 1980s.
By the mid-1990s, Victoria had returned to New York and established a new artistic focus: flowers. Fascinated by their textures, layers, colors, and natural beauty, she explored each flower as its own miniature universe. Through her expressive oil paintings, she captured the extraordinary richness and diversity of nature.
In 2003, Victoria began exhibiting her original oil paintings at the prestigious Fingerhut Galleries in California and released a limited-edition series through Fingerhut Group Publishers. Her artistic journey reflects a lifelong dedication to creativity, independence, and the pursuit of beauty.
