About Olga Vilna
Born in 1961 in western Ukraine, Olga Vilna is a self-taught Ukrainian-American artist whose creative journey began 25 years ago with a sudden and powerful desire to paint. What started as an unexpected calling soon became a lifelong passion, and she is now a full-time artist devoted to exploring and developing her artistic vision.
Deeply inspired by her father, a professional artist, Vilna brings a sense of personal heritage and purpose to her work. She primarily works in mixed media, embracing the freedom to experiment with impasto, acrylics, oil paint, foil leaf gilding, and pouring techniques. Her layered approach creates rich textures, vibrant colors, and expressive compositions.
Her subjects range from flowers, birch trees, landscapes, and seascapes to abstract works and religious icons. Through nature-inspired paintings, she seeks to capture fleeting moments of beauty and tranquility. Her abstract compositions explore emotion and the unknown, while her icons offer a connection to her Ukrainian cultural heritage and spiritual beliefs.
Vilna’s work is held in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Australia. Through her art, she hopes to evoke memories, emotions, and a sense of connection that transcends borders and language. Her goal is to invite viewers beyond the surface of each painting, discovering their own feelings, interpretations, and sources of inspiration.
